I installed Windows 8 on mine because i'm so adventurous when it comes to this sort of thing. It ran it, but not well. Especially because it's single core cpu and max 2 gigs of ram. I bought mine cheap off ebay with a dead hdd and a glitchy screen i bought it really just to fix it. If i had to sell a Dell laptop of mine it would be the D510.

It can fit an Intel T8300 or 9300 CPU. 😆

An addition to the video showing the CPU/Video module exposed, with the video module out and a connector side shot would be EXTREMELY nice, especially since Dell is revisiting the video module format used by the Vostro 1700 in the Alienware Aera 51M.

Thank you for the video, but 2 questions: 1) What did you take out @ 8:20? I opened my 1700 to change its LCD hinges, and i don't have anything connected to that wire. and 2) You know the very last thing you took out? @9:50 The card that the headphone and mic are supposed to plug into? I think i need to change mine, so is it really as easy as unscrewing it out, or does it require 'soldering' like you said in your comment? Thank you for your help!

Thanks a lot. Nothing like cleaning out years-worth of hairs and dust from the fan, and this also helped me fix an earlier bungle of mine on the first attempt - I accidentally detached the touch-pad connection.

I have Lenovo 3000 n200 with 4GB of ram! So 2GB is not maximum! And i have Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 ( 2Ghz, 4mb L2, and 800FSB)

Do not worry.I solder the headphone jack back in place and assemble the entire computer. My friend ´s sister still has it today. :)
